Keep, Donate, Discard

When is the best time to decide whether to keep, donate, or discard your belongings?

When organizing, my favorite approach is to clear out an area and start fresh. From there, we can go through everything and decide if it is something you should keep, donate, or discard. Additionally, I also like to include the pile of 'come back to' items.

**Keep**: This pile includes things you still use, wear, or hold sentimental value.

**Donate**: Items or clothing that are in good condition but you no longer use or wear.

**Discard**: Anything damaged, broken, or unusable.

**Come Back To**: These are the items between Keep and Donate. With this pile, I ask my clients to revisit it in a week or so. Does it still hold sentimental value? Did you use it? Do you need it still?

It can be hard to determine what to keep and what to let go of. This is where professional organizers come in. We are there to support you and make the decision process easier for you.

Let's talk about sentimental items. We all have sentimental items in our homes. What about those sentimental items always boxed up? Are these items that need to stay boxed up? Could they be repurposed, donated?
