Moving, Keep It Simple!

Are you getting ready to move? Consider moving? Congratulations! Moving can be exciting! Moving can be a new chapter in life, a new place to grow, decorate, and more. But for some, it can also be quite stressful, more to add to their already busy plate. How can the daunting task of moving can become an easy and stress-free transition? Simply by planning and working with organizers. Let's begin with a few questions:

When moving,

Where does one begin?

When will you have time to pack?

When will you have time to declutter and/or downsize?

Life is busy enough, but planning allows you to create a less stressful and smoother moving experience. By hiring an organizer, we help you create a plan where we can reduce the time spent packing while allowing you to continue your daily tasks smoothly.

Before you begin packing, take the opportunity to declutter and downsize your belongings. Why bring along items you no longer need? During this decluttering process, consider these three categories: keep, donate, and discard. In my previous blog, "Keep, Donate, Discard," I explained how to differentiate between these actions. Here’s a quick review:

- **Keep**: These are items you currently use or those with sentimental value.

- **Donate**: This category includes items that are in good condition but no longer serve a purpose for you.

- **Discard**: These are items that are no longer in good condition, broken, or unusable.

Decluttering and downsizing will not only lighten your load but also make the moving process more cost-effective.

Packing is an essential part of creating a smooth transition during the move. As organizers, we are strategic in packing your belongings. We make clear, written labels to keep you aware of fragile items and the rooms they belong to. Labels will reduce confusion while unpacking. You can even add a few items in the box to the label to help you find specific belongings faster. If there should be boxes to be stored and not unpacked, we can label them to avoid opening them and have them stored in the appropriate area.

After moving into your new home, organizers can help create a smooth transition by assisting with unpacking. Having support during this process will reduce stress, save time while putting belongings away, and minimize the number of boxes in your new space. As organizers, we can help make your house feel like a home in no time!
